Actually, the name came from my husband, and I pilfered his screen name (at a time when I was still an AOL novice and didn't know how to set up my own). According to him, "Cosmo" is a ghost name he sometimes used (based on Cosmo McKinley, which was Richard O'Brien's character from the movie "Shock Treatment") and "Splat" was what he originally wanted to name our paint-splattered-colored cat. I, of course, could not bring myself to call her "Splat" and we settled on a different name for the cat ("Savannah"). People seemed to like the name "CosmoSplat", so I kept it.
Anyhoo, most folks call me Kara, and I'm married to my husband Sandy, who's usually nearby when I'm playing trivia, throwing in his occasional two cents (and sometimes even typing for me). I'm a native Detroiter and still live there, whereas Sandy is a transplanted Georgian. We have no children (and no plans for any); good thing -- between the two of us, what kind of accent would they have? :) We do have seven pets -- a retired racing greyhound named Trailways (another idea of my husband's), and six cats, most of whom are named after Georgia towns (Augusta, Vidalia, Toccoa, etc. -- another Sandy brainstorm). Rest assured that I and I alone shall name any future animals we may acquire!
Besides working for a living (you call this a living?) my husband & I direct the North American fan club for the band Queen. It's called Royal Vision, has been around 11 years now, and has nearly a thousand members, mostly from the U.S. and Canada. We hold annual conventions in a different city each year (in the midwest and northeast) and also attend the International Queen Fan Club's convention in Southport, England each spring.
In my spare time (when I'm not doing Queen stuff or pushing my AOL bill up another few digits) I like to watch entirely too much television (perhaps that's why I like the computer so much -- another screen -- it looks like a little TV!!!). I also love to travel, read, and scour through antique & flea markets for modern American kitsch for our home (which is decorated in "Tacky"). Our recent acquisitions include a very bright lamp shaped like a huge can of Campbell's soup and a neon "Lite" beer sign. Look for us on the cover of the next "Better Homes & Gardens". ;)
Trivia seems to be my forte, as ever since I can remember, my mom has been telling me that my head is filled with nothing but crap! I've become addicted to both AOL trivia and garnering as many wav files as my hard drive will hold, so feel free to send me some via e-mail at any time!
In short, Sandy & I have had a blast talking to everyone in trivia, and we hope that between the two of us, we can sell enough bodily organs to stay on AOL for a long time to come. We even hope to host our own games soon. Consider yourselves warned! ;D
